Bob Smith had it all. A beautiful house, a happy family, a rewarding career, and a government concerned with his well-being. But when his young son collapses, everything begins to crumble. Suddenly thrust into the world of Universal Coverage, Smith discovers that the ideals he voted for have spiraled out of control. The U.S. nationalized healthcare system has quickly devolved into a nightmare of unbearable waits, inevitable fraud, and uncertain outcomes presided over by a disinterested bureaucratic class. As Smith struggles to save his son’s life, he finds the only hope is Salvare, an unauthorized hospital ship providing world-class care to anyone with cash who’s willing to make the journey. A miracle at sea awaits aboard Salvare if Smith is brave enough to question the dangerous path his country has taken. Time is running out, and in matters of life and death, timing is everything.
"A compelling novel in the tradition of Animal Farm and 1984 that shows ... the disastrous consequences of government-run health care."
--NEWT GINGRICH, FORMER SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
"We must not let the Washington politicians turn this well-written piece of fiction into a nightmare reality for the American people!"
--STEVE FORBES, PRESIDENT AND CEO, FORBES INC. & EDITOR-IN-CHIEF, FORBES MAGAZINE
"A terrifying look into our future if we allow the government too much control. A must read for anyone thinking that more government involvement in our health care means equal access and better quality of care for all."
--CYNARA COOMER, MD, FOX NEWS MEDICAL CONTRIBUTOR
"A cross between Atlas Shrugged, 1984, and a dash of Children of Men, Putkowski warns readers what will happen to individual choice ... when government controls all health care."
--ED MORRISSEY, HOTAIR.COM
"A health-care system run like the DMV or the Post Office ... is frightening."
--DAVID A. KEENE, CHAIRMAN, AMERICAN CONSERVATIVE UNION
"A sobering glance into a world of bureaucrats ... and broken government promises. An essential cautionary tale ... ought to be required reading on every campus."
--DAVID LASKA, PRESIDENT, NEW YORK UNIVERSITY COLLEGE REPUBLICANS
"An engaging but maddening read, because we see it coming true before our eyes."
--JANE ORIENT, MD, AUTHOR OF YOUR DOCTOR IS NOT IN
"Universal Coverage is the 1984 novel of our era ... it foreshadows the loss of freedom and economic decline that ensue from the sort of government intervention we see taking hold in Washington today. A must read ... for those who understand ... but more important, for those who don’t recognize the huge risks ahead."
--GRACE-MARIE TURNER, PRESIDENT, GALEN INSTITUTE
"A superb contribution to the battle of ideas ... a bold look at what happens when people allow self-appointed agents of change to say the nine most terrifying words in the English language."
--MATT WOLKING, PRESIDENT, AMERICAN CONSERVATIVE STUDENT UNION
"A glimpse into the future of American health care ... a Kafkaesque world of regulations, controls, and penalties. Putkowski doesn't portray a world as it ought to be, but how it may well be. Today's novel could be tomorrow's journalism and that is terrifying to consider."
--JAMES PERON, PRESIDENT, LAISSEZ FAIRE BOOKS
"Eerily prescient and on a par with Orwell's 1984 ... a must read for all voting Americans ... prior to the 2010 elections."
--C.H. McGOWEN, MD, CHIEF MEDICAL ADVISOR, AMERICAN POLICY ROUNDTABLE
"Articulating the horrors of socialized medicine ... is a daunting task, but now we have a translation Universal Coverage by Daniel Putkowski. It is a must read for all Americans who are concerned about their children's future. Putkowski exposes the failings of socialized medicine in a compelling story that will captivate readers."
--SCOTT A. BARBOUR, MD, DOCS 4 PATIENT CARE
Universal Coverage eBook Daniel Putkowski
I read this book because I had read another book by this Author. This one peaked my curiosity since the Health Care issue is in the forefront of every body's thoughts. Holy crap is this scary. The thought that health care and the day to day life of everyone in this book...government intrusions, rules, regulations, gas rationing, and the total nightmare of a healthcare system this books predicts will happen. Anyone in charge of implementing the Affordable Care Act should read this book. But, they are probably to stupid to realize this could really happen. I hope the scenario in the book NEVER happens! Great read.Product details

Universal Coverage eBook Daniel Putkowski Reviews
Loved starting the book, it was right up my alley... reminded me of 1984, but more relevant to today. Unfortunately, as I got closer and closer to the end, I realized there weren't enough pages left to develop what goes on aboard the Salvare. Reading it was much like enjoying a meal when you're really hungry; The first few bites are exciting and delicious, the middle of the meal clips along and you're waiting for a delicious dessert, but then they tell you they're all out of all the desserts and could you please hurry up, there are others waiting for your table. Perhaps it's a setup for a sequel, but overall I felt unsatisfied.
I've read all of Daniel Putkowski's books and there all excellent. But with all thats going on in Washington "UNIVERSAL COVERAGE" nails it. If this country dosen't wake up soon we'll all be standing in line together waiting for aspirin.
Daniel gives us a very frightening look into our future should Universal Health Care be passed.
Gripping horror story that hopefully will never happen, but could so easily......
Should be required reading for anyone in a position of power in the US and the UK.
Not too bad but all of a sudden it ended - I was waiting to find out what happened next! The story line takes you up to the cliff then all of a sudden pushes off - too many authors are doing this now - almost as if they have no clue how to really end the story.
Actually this book is a frightening look into our future health system. Be sure to have something to destroy while reading it, cause you will certainly get your dander up!
so so.
